Gottschalk Polled Herefords

Gottschalk Polled Herefords ~ Fifty Years of Herefords
In 1961 David and Rose Gottschalk decided to get a few Polled Herefords to start a little herd on their farm just southwest of ByronMN.  They picked the Hereford breed because they were known for their docility, fertility and feed efficiency.  Through the years the Gottschalk farm has raised chickens and sold thousands of eggs to milking over 100 Holsteins.  The livestock that stayed through all those years was their beloved Polled Hereford herd.  The Polled Hereford herd became Nationally known in 1971 when GHF Lady Dom 1 won Grand Champion at the Kansas City American Royal.  They showed Lady Dom for two years winning 16 Grand Champion and two Reserve Champion honors.  In 1978 a daughter won honors at the Junior National and was Grand Champion at four State Fairs.  In 1980 another daughter, GHF MS Vindy F14 41M, was a successful show heifer.  This bloodline went on for years and went on to produce GHF D03 Merci 241 L.  We've been very blessed with this bloodline.  They produce the kind of cattle we truly believe in.

David and his son, Jerry, who's been involved in the business ever since he was just a little boy continue to seek out superior bloodlines to keep their herd breeding strong.  To that end the two bought, H BAILOUT 0321 ET.  They affectionately call him "Big H".   Big H came from a very powerful flush at Hoffman Ranch in ThedfordNeb.  One flushmate was the National Reserve Grand Champion Bull at Denver and another brother was National Calf Champion Bull at Ft. WorthTexas.

"Big H" had his own success at the 2011 Minnesota State Fair by being named Grand Champion Hereford Bull and Supreme Grand Champion Bull over nine other Breed Champions.  "Big H" has earned the respect of several cattlemen as there has been semen orders from not only Hereford breeders but from other breed owners as well.

Another honor for the Gottschalk herd at the 2011 Minnesota State Fair came as GHF 2U QUANTUM LEAP 400Y was named Minnesota Bred and Owned Grand Champion Bull plus the Reserve Grand Champion Bull.

Our Polled Herefords have brought us so much joy and honors.  We've been blessed to have sold cattle into 27 States and Canada.  The Gottschalks extend an open invitation to come and view their herd.
